Balance

Islamic Dream Interpretations by Ibn Sirin

Balance

(Scale) A balance and a scale in a dream have similar interpretations. Both represent faith, justice and righteousness in words and actions. In a dream, a balance also may represent a wife, or it could mean payment of one's debts. A steelyard in a dream represents an architect or a builder. A miller's scale in a dream represents a man who considers himself worthy of respect, while his actions, earnings and moves are contemptible. A precision scale in a dream represents a warning against heedlessness and concern for proper accounting for one's actions. The justice scale represents a judge. If it stands balanced in one's dream, then it means that the judge of that locality is a just and a learned person. In a dream, the scales of a balance represents the judge's ears. The money put on a scale for measuring represents the lawsuits, and the weights represent the judgment. If one sees himself standing before God Almighty on Judgment Day and if his good deeds weigh heavier than his sins in the dream, it means that he will reckon himself, reflect about his bad actions and correct the course of his life. Consequently, his reward in the hereafter will be greater. Seeing the Balance of the Day of Judgement in a dream means vulnerability of people's secrets, exposing one's actions in public, recognition of the ultimate truth, joy, happiness, victory and justice. If one's deeds are praiseworthy, then he will be a winner. If one's deeds are blameworthy, then he will be a loser. In general, a balance in a dream represents a guide, an example to follow, a scholar one seeks to learn at his hand, a ruler, a criterion and the Qur'fm. It also may represent one's tongue and correctness, truthfulness, lies, incredulity or trustworthiness. (Also see Measure'; Measurer; Scale)

Weight

(Unit of weight) In a dream, a unit of weight represents a criterion, or commanding what is good and forbidding what is evil. It also means admonition, reprimand, power, authority, guidance, truthfulness, writing or signing an agreement, or it could represent the burdens of one's sins. (Also see Measure; Unit of weight)

Unit of weight

(Measure; Weight) In a dream, a unit of weight may signify distress or it could mean relief. A unit of weight in a dream also represents the elements that are measured or weighed with it. In a dream, a unit of weight also could represent one's confidant or personal secretary. (Also see Half a bushel; Measure; Weight)

  • A unit of weight in a dream may signify distress or relief

Half a bushel

(arb. Mudd. Unit of dry measure equal to 2 pecks, or 16 quarts.) A container measuring half a bushel in a dream means sanctity, chastity, cleanliness and purity. This interpretation comes from understanding the practice of God's Prophet (uwbp) of regularly taking his ritual ablution from such a measuring container. (Also see Unit of measure)

Measurer

(Balance; Corn measurer; Measuring controller; Quantity surveyor; Scale) In a dream, one who metes out or dispenses measures and weights represents a ruler, a leader or a judge. If his measurement is exact, it means that he is a just person. Otherwise, it represents a tyrant. If one is given a scale for measuring, or if he becomes a measurer or a measuring controller, or a surveyor in a dream, and if he qualifies, it means that he will be appointed as a judge, or as a leader. If he does not qualify, it means that he will grow in wisdom, righteousness, justice and balance which he can use to help himself and others. (Also see Measure'; Scale)

Cases

  • ruler
  • leader
  • judge
  • just person
  • tyrant
  • appointed as a judge
  • appointed as a leader
  • grow in wisdom
  • righteousness
  • justice

Scale

Balance; Measure. Seeing a scale in a dream means renewal of one's business. Depending on the truthfulness by which one weighs his business, or product, a scale in a dream also means profits or a fine. Receiving a scale as a gift in a dream means that one may become a judge. The same applies if one sees himself transformed into a scale in a dream. If one sees merchants short weighing their merchandise in a dream, then a scale will represent a judge who deviates from justice.

Cases

  • renewal of one's business
  • profits or a fine
  • one may become a judge
  • a judge who deviates from justice
